The Relationship Between Vitamin D Serum Levels and Metabolic Syndrome in Patients Referred to Central Laboratory of ACECR in Mashhad, Iran

Background: Vitamin D3 deficiency, which is associated with several other diseases such as high blood sugar levels, insulin resistance, and the risk of developing metabolic syndrome (MetS) prevalent all over world. Objectives: This study aimed to determine prevalence vitamin deficiency MetS evaluate their association in patients referred central laboratory Academic Center for Education, Culture, Research (ACECR) Mashahd, Iran. Methods: cross-sectional was conducted on 1,214 aged 15 - 75 years ACECR Mashhad, Iran, 2018. Participants were identified using Adult Treatment Panel III (ATPIII) criteria. Biochemical parameters levels assessed Mindray instrument high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method, respectively. The subjects divided into four groups terms serum concentration follows: Deficient (< 10 ng/mL), insufficient (10 30 sufficient (30 80 toxic (80 < ng/mL). Results: From a total subjects, 15.0% had 53.2% showed insufficiency, 31.1% normal D3, 0.7% suffered from toxicity. Therefore, 437 (49.7%) females 209 (62.6%) males insufficiency.
